FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
What is Turf?
There are huge differences in the quality of artificial grass. A simple example: most artificial grass types have single backing (which is the fabric on the bottom side) while turf products have double backing. This makes it firmer, easier to install, adds more back support to the grass and protects against shrinking and expanding. Our thread, the grass itself, contains no heavy metals. Many other types of artificial grass have color pigments that contain tiny concentrations of heavy metals. For plastic toys there are very strict regulations in place, but for artificial grass this does not apply. That’s why we demand ourselves to use fibers that are guaranteed to be clean and safe. Does the quality of the material have an influence on the way artificial grass is produced? No. Not directly. The process is pretty much uniform, regardless of quality. That’s why we can summarize the production of artificial grass easily into five steps.
Since artificial grass is made of synthetics, the temperature can have an effect. After all, synthetics may expand slightly due to heat and may shrink somewhat due to cold.
There’s no need for you to worry though. It’s only a matter of millimeters.
Keeping the Grass Clean
There is no such thing as a artificial grass cleaning guide because it is very easy. Foods and drinks can be easily cleaned off. Rinse with clean water afterwards. Remove any spilled food, clean and rinse with water. Chewing gum is a little trickier. Carefully remove the chewing gum with a spoon. This will be easier if you put some ice cubes on the spot first. This hardens the gum, making it easier to remove. Try not to use solvents, as these may harm your artificial grass.
How to Repair
If something happens accidentally with my artificial grass, is repair possible? Such as replacing a melted patch?
Fortunately it is not common, but the greatest risk is melting, generally caused by a window reflection. Our turf is made with UV protection and has been tested to withstand heat.
Any damage to artificial grass can be repaired. The damaged piece of artificial turf is cut out and replaced by a new piece. It is therefore advisable to save any remnants of Next 2 Natural Turf left over after installation so that they can be used for any repairs.
The replaced area will will look differently than the already used turf, even when it is the same product. You can compare this with normal carpet. A repair usually remains visible. Over time, this difference will be less and less visible.
Will the Grass Stand Up Straight After Extensive Use?
The resilience of the fibers is how you can tell if your artificial grass is of high quality or of lesser quality. Grass of good quality will simply recover after intensive use, for instance when you have a swimming pool on your lawn. To help it recover more quickly, you can simply brush it with an ordinary broom. Grass of lesser quality, however, usually becomes flat and remains flat; no matter what you try to do about it.
Our Turf is nice and soft. Children will enjoy playing and crawling on it. And after a downpour, the turf will not remain wet for long. Also artificial grass is not slippery when wet. After a short time, the kids can go out again and play, and you will not have to worry about them getting muddy or wet. And artificial grass and the sand filler are absolutely harmless, even if eaten by small children.
